Essential Chinchilla Accessories
You cannot clean a Chinchilla with water. You must give it a sand bath instead. Sand baths serves two purposes for Chinchillas. It cleans their fur plus they love to roll around in it, so it is also something for them to do during playtime. Be sure to get a bathhouse so that the sand won’t fly everywhere when the Chinchilla rolls around in it.
Suggested Items to Clean Your Chinchilla
Not all cages come with a water bottle, so make sure you pick one up if you don’t have one. Chinchillas do not drink water as much as other small mammals, but they still need to drink. Make sure you have a water bottle that does not leak. If a Chinchilla gets wet enough from a dripping bottle, its fur will start to mold and it can end up getting worse from there. So make sure to have a secure non-leaky bottle for your Chinchilla.
Here’s a recommended water bottle
Chinchillas in general are clean animals and their body admit no odor. But if you don’t change its bedding after a while, you will start to smell its urine so its best to buy extra bedding in case you run out and you should definitely buy bedding at the same time when you purchase a cage as well.
